Games I Beat in 2026 — #5 : Dungeon Antiqua 2

What a delightful sequel.

Except.

Look, this is clearly a game inspired by Final Fantasy. I mean, just look at the art. And yet, the music is so similar to a lot of Final Fantasy songs that it almost worries me. Which is weird because like, the art is clearly similar. But the music? Feels too close. Feels less inspiration and... I dunno.

But this is a great improvement over the first Dungeon Antiqua in several ways. Characters can change jobs without needing the Wizardry-like stat requirements. And MP instead of spell levels. Goodness gracious, do we ever love MP over spell levels.

Multiple dungeons is nice, although the mapping being gone from that was a bit of a bummer. Boss fights still felt good and, look, I tend to play most of my games silently because of my life, so yeah, the music is a question but I can't say that much else. I just hope they didn't steal or use AI to generate the tunes. But they really sound too similar at times.
