Games I Beat in 2026 — #1: Duck Detective: The Secret Salami

What a delightful little treat! While perhaps the base price of these games is high for the time—I spent under three hours on this one—the quality of the writing, voice acting, art, puzzles and so on matches that. Now, if you were of the kind to prefer waiting for a sale, so be it. But this was a solid adventure game that I am glad to have played.

Unlike most point-and-clicks, puzzles in Duck Detective work by putting words in blanks. You have your question, like say, BLANK is BLANK'S BLANK. Then you could fill in: Bob is Jeff's boyfriend. If you get it right, it progresses the story. If not, well, you can look at the data again, or turn on a mode that tells you which entries are incorrect.

This is simple. But with a solid story, and well-written mysteries, it made for a delight that had me starting up the sequel as soon as I was done with the first game.
