M is for Mustikio (A Month of Toshie the Hero Blog Posts)

"As true as a Dingleberry Pie's sweet," Mustikio grinned.

Okay, this is me pushing my sprite skills to the max. I cannot get an anthropomorphic Cheshire-cat-style character to look like I want in a 16x24 area.
But I digest.
Mustikio is a Virnikissa Necromancer. They are cat-like people from Kotilansa with a long-standing rivalry with the Houndsfolk of Cartdwyr, a neighboring nation. Cats versus Dogs. I am a genius. Of course, Mustikio will occasionally mention his Houndsfolk lover. Now we’re getting somewhere! Tension the levels of which Shakespeare could only dream of.
Mustikio speaks with a heavy patois, which I find delightful and difficult to write. He shows up in Book Two and becomes an intricate part of helping redacted figure out how to accomplish their goals.
Oh, I mentioned Necromancer, didn’t I? It’s fairly obvious what this means as far as his powers, but it has made for some fun scenes.
The inspiration for Mustikio came from my late British Shorthair Blueberry Cheesecake. She was a precious little angel, completely incapable of making the jumps she tried to make and so very proud. I miss that little cat.

Toshie the Hero and the Orbs of Destiny is available now!
Books 2 and 3 will be released in 2025.
