Games I Beat in 2025: 14 — Blade Chimera

Who doesn't love a solid Metroidvania now and again?

Blade Chimera gave me the most "We are copying the core of Symphony of the Night" that I felt in a while. But it hit the most important part of being its own thing. The story was interesting enough, if not slightly predictable at times, but hey. I mostly played to jump around and explore.

The main mechanic of the player character having a demon that takes the form of a sword or past objects to interact with the world was mostly fun. "Mostly" because the demons are weak to UV light, and so there were puzzles where if the Sword Demon was not "dropped off" at the right angle, it would pass through the light and die, which is game over. There are also a few one-hit kills, which I found a bit obnoxious.

The secret boss for the "true" ending was a bit bullshit, but, thankfully, once I spammed my way through its first form, beat its second, I was able to use items to cheese its third and win.

Also, I got every achievement. One, because none of them were obscenely hard to get, and two, they were all fun and satisfying. Well done on the devs for choosing achievements that felt in reach, but also weren't only playing the game.

Side note: A game is doing something right when one of the Steam guides is how to remove the dialogue. Those poor gamers who are unable to handle games with Hunky Men and Sexy Women talking about how, gasp, maybe people should be treated equally.
