N is for Navarin (A Month of Toshie the Hero Blog Posts)

"Sorry, but, you know, Princess to Princess? I get it. The whole royal thing is–"
"I am no Princess," Navarin interrupted.

Navarin is a Dark Elf. However, she prefers to be called a Soirvin, the name they use for themselves. Well, the royalty does. The commoners don’t care as much. She is the daughter of Queen Lorraine Soirvin and joins Toshie’s party when the Queen sends Toshie and friends on a mission.
Despite being royalty, Navarin does not view herself as a Princess and spent her childhood focusing on education. Adept in many forms of combat, she is a Mage Knight, using Ice Magic to replace her weapons if she is ever disarmed.
I realized after a rewrite that Navarin (Spoiler!) is me. Well, not exactly me. I’m not royalty, a Dark Elf, a woman, or even fit. While all characters are parts of the author, I realized Navarin encompasses many of my battles with mental issues and my inner demons. She’s easy to write, and I’m particularly proud of her character arc in the three books. (That’s not to say the series ends at Book Three. I’m just only at that part in my writing!)

Toshie the Hero and the Orbs of Destiny is available now!
Books 2 and 3 will be released in 2025.
